Annuity or Cash option

You can choose how to collect your Powerball jackpot--30 annual payments (over 29 years) or one cash payment (present value*)--up to 60 days after you become entitled to the prize. The annuity option now gives players annual payments that increase each year--projected at 4 percent.
* if you choose cash, the present cash value is less than the advertised jackpot, which is based on a 30-year annuity.

How to Play

Pick five numbers between 1 and 69 for your five white ball numbers by marking the top section of the Powerball play slip. Then, pick one number between 1 and 26 for your red Powerball number by marking the bottom section of the Powerball play slip, or mark the quick pick box on the play slip.

Each play costs $2 and you can pick up to five different sets of numbers on each play slip. You can purchase the same numbers for consecutive drawings when you use the multi-draw box on the play slip.

Tickets can be purchased from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. (Central Time) any day of the week except from 9:00 p.m. to 9:03 p.m. on drawing nights. Review your play slip carefully before giving it to the clerk. Once printed, a ticket cannot be canceled. Check your tickets before leaving the store.

More Power In Power Play

The $1 Power Play option offers players the chance to play for enhanced non-jackpot prizes. A separate drawing will be performed to select the Power Play multiplier number (2, 3, 4, 5, or 10) for all prizes except the jackpot and the Match 5 prize. The Power Play multiplier number is chosen from a field of numbers according to the following frequency: one (1) number 10, two (2) number 5s, three (3) number 4s, thirteen (13) number 3s, and twenty-four (24) number 2s.

The 10X multiplier will only be available for drawings with advertised annuity jackpot levels of $150 million and below. The other multipliers will be in play regardless of the jackpot amount. The Match 5 prize is $2 million if the Power Play option is purchased.

The winning numbers will be announced every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Central Time. Double Play

Adding Double Play to your Powerball purchase for an additional $1 per play gives you another chance to match your Powerball numbers for prizes up to $10 million.

If you have a Powerball ticket with Double Play, you play the same set of numbers for the main Powerball drawing and the Double Play drawing. Double Play drawings are held between 10:30 and 10:40 p.m. Central Time on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights.

Tickets can be purchased with Power Play and Double Play for $4 per play. However, the Power Play multiplier will not apply to Double Play prizes.
