Omaha Woman Wins $35,000 Playing UNO

January 27, 2011 – Shelby Dorris of Omaha won $35,000 playing the $3 Scratch game UNO from the Nebraska Lottery.

Dorris purchased her winning UNO ticket at Anderson Food Shop, 2630 South 140th Street in Omaha. Scratching the ticket, she revealed matching cards in a line for a corresponding prize of $35,000.

There were three $35,000 top prizes available in UNO. Dorris was the third person to claim a top prize in the game.

While claiming her prize on January 5, Dorris told Nebraska Lottery officials that she wasn’t sure she had won after scratching off her winning UNO ticket. “I thought I hadn’t scratched it right, so I had it checked at the store,” said Dorris. She plans to pay bills using her winnings.

UNO was a $3 Scratch game from the Nebraska Lottery that offered players the chance to win $937,000 in cash prizes from $3 to $35,000. The odds of winning the $35,000 top prize in UNO were 1 in 160,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.52.
